My focus on this design was the symbolism of death and resurrection, a phoenix-like release of ego and surrender to the higher self. Rather than the focus being on death (symbolized with her skeleton which she is peeling away from), the woman, rising from her own bones and ashes, is resurrecting and finding her own power. And while the detritus of her former self smolders, below her are roots that are anchored deep in earth and an all-seeing eye of truth, grounding her eternally.

The "death" aspect of this card is actually a rebirth, phoenix rising from the ashes. She uses the light from her own fire to embolden herself and others. This tarot card design was closest to me because it shares the ethos of The Pine Torch - holding and carrying the light, even if you light yourself up in the process.
